Deputy Mayor of Benque Carjacked

The Deputy Mayor of Benque Viejo del Carman, fifty-six-year-old Alvaro Gongora was carjacked on Friday morning. Gongora, along with two of his employees, was on the Arenal Road in his 2015 Ford Explorer when they were held up at gunpoint. The masked Hispanic men demanded the keys to the vehicle. Gongora complied and the robbers sped off in the vehicle into Guatemala. A.C.P. Joseph Myvett shares mores.

“Police received a report from Alvaro Gongora of Benque Viejo town address  who informed the police that earlier that day around seven, seven thirty am, himself along with two of his workers proceeded to his farm on the Arenal road in his burgundy in colour Ford Explorer pickup. While at his farm he was approached by three Hispanic males two of whom were armed and they demanded the keys for his vehicle and a result they were given the keys and they took off in his vehicle towards the direction of Arenal.”


The vehicle is valued at twelve thousand dollars and has not been recovered. A.C.P. Myvett says that there is vehicle checkpoint on the Arenal Road.
