Fire Breaks Out in San Ignacio Town

A fire broke out on Independence Street in San Ignacio Town over the weekend. On Saturday morning, Carmita Salazar was in her home when she was alerted that her snack shop located in the same yard was engulfed in flames. Salazar along with neighbours fought the blaze while fire-fighters arrived. However, the snack shop was destroyed. Investigators are working on determining what caused the inferno.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Her snack shop which is the same yard of her home was on fire. As a result, herself along with neighbors try to extinguish the fire. The fire department was called and they also were called on the scene and they were able to save her home which in fact received fire damages but the snack shop was totally destroyed by fire. At this point in time the cause of the fire is unknown. Both fire department personnel and police are investigating the matter.”
