Murder Trial Continues for Valentine Baptist

Valentine Baptist

A murder trial without jury is taking place in the Supreme Court. The accused is Valentine Baptist, who allegedly murdered nineteen-year-old Devin Parham three years ago. Today, Senior Crown Counsel Shanice Lovell called the arresting officer to the stand. He recounted the circumstances leading to the arrest of Baptist.  Two statements were also read into evidence including one from Parham’s cousin, who was the last person to see him alive. Parham’s cousin said that on the day of the murder on July sixth, 2016, they were on their home when they detected a man in the area of Mortar’s Alley and Cemetery Road in Belize City. He said the individual reached for an objection and when he recognized it to be a firearm, he fled. But Devin could not escape the bullets and was injured.  The case continues on Tuesday, December tenth, 2019. Baptist is being represented by Senior Counsel Simeon Sampson and the case is being heard before Justice Colin Williams.
