Belize City Mayor Provides Update on Municipal Bond

Bernard Wagner

One way by which the Council plans to become fluid, is by selling bonds through the municipal bond. Now, the bond received the support of the House and Senate in August and apparently it also caught the attention of the private sector. Mayor Bernard Wagner said today that the process is in train and more than six point five million dollars are committed in bonds.  The mayor explains.

“That prospectus is fully on stream. We are waiting the audited financials being done by C.D. Flowers and when that is completed we will include it in the prospectus and then we will take it from there.”

“Do you have any buyers lined up already?”

Bernard Wagner

“It is oversold. Before going public it has been oversold. Investors are more willing to take some risk in making sure that they earn much more for their investments.”

“What is the total amount that your council is trying to raise with this particular bond?”

Bernard Wagner

“Initially we wanted six point five million. We have already surpassed that. But as a prudent council we want to ensure also that we don’t extend ourselves too far.”
