Pastor Lucas’ Last Interview with News Five

Llewellyn Lucas

As you heard, the family of the deceased pastor believes that justice has been served more than three years after his grisly murder. On the day in which his life was taken, it was established in trial that Pastor Lue had gone Mason’s Intelco Hill residence in Belmopan. Lucas was well known in the community and was a member of the Southern Workers Union in Dangriga. News Five interviewed him in late January 2014 when he participated in a demonstration led by the Belize National Teachers Union.  At the time, Pastor Lue was vocal in his support of the B.N.T.U. and agitating for change. Here is what he shared at the time of that interview.

“We are standing with the teachers simply because we believe in our children, we believe in our young people. And we are hoping that our future will be netter and now is the time to invest in that. Not next week, not next year and finding excuses won’t cut it. Change must come, it must start with us.”
