Leroy Lorenzo is Charged for the Murder of American Nurse in Hopkins
The common-law husband of an American national has been charged for her murder. Fifty-year-old Wendy Dardano, a nurse attached to the Hopkins Satellite Clinic was murdered over the weekend; stabbed to the chest and her body dumped in a garbage bin. Even before the discovery, her common-law husband Leroy Alexander Lorenzo was detained since it is believed that she was killed inside the lower flat to a concrete building they rented in the village. On Monday, police formally arrested and charged the twenty-eight-year-old Corozal resident with the crime of murder. It is not known what led to her violent end, but Dardano had complained to a co-worker about the alleged abuse she was experiencing at the hands of Lorenzo. On Monday, police said that after receiving a call that Dardano could not be found, they went searching and came up on the gruesome find.

“Hopkins police were called by a concerned citizen who reported to them that she was calling Wendy Dardano, fifty years American national, cell phone and she was answered by a male person. Previous to that, she made several calls from earlier in the day which were again answered by a male person who gave her different accounts as to her whereabouts which caused her to get suspicious and as a result she called Hopkins Police who visited Miss Dardano’s house in Hopkins Village where upon arrival they encountered her common-law husband. As a result, a conversation was held with him and he was eventually detained. Police then went back to the area shortly thereafter where a search was conducted on the entire house and yard where later in a blue plastic drum in front of the yard, they discovered the apparent lifeless body of Miss Wendy Dardano inside the barrel.”
A close friend of Dardano says that the house was properly cleaned and that police removed a knife and a blood-stained clothing from the house.
