Devon Nicholas is Guilty of Firearm Offences

Devon Nicholas

In the Magistrate court in Belize City, Devon Nicholas was sentenced to two years behind bars after he was found guilty of firearm offences. Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford found him guilty on two charges: “kept firearm without a gun license and kept ammunition without a gun license.”  During the trial, two police officers testified that on the night of October thirty-first, 2017, while conducting operations on Tibruce Street in Belize City, they observed Nicholas as the threw an object inside a yard. The officers took Nicholas to retrieve the object and discovered that it was a point thirty-eight revolver with three live rounds of ammunition. Nicholas told the court that he had no knowledge of the firearm. He also asked to court to have mercy on him since he recently became a father.  Senior Magistrate Ford told him that the minimum sentence for firearm offence is five years; however, she will only sentence him to two years since he has asked the court for leniency.
