Minister Panton: “They are cutting the prices so that they can then control the market completely”

Tracy Taegar-Panton

According to the Minister, the low prices are a reaction to Government’s decision to allow for the establishment of the National Gas Company. Taeger-Panton says that G.O.B. will do all it can to ensure that the industry remains stable.

Tracy Taegar-Panton, Minister of State, Investment, Trade & Commerce

“Lower prices are good for consumers but they are selling below what we can acquire fuel from on the global market. That is not sustainable. We will have a deep dive, run the retailers out of the market and then they are free to spike up the prices. They are cutting the prices so that they can then control the market completely and then that the retailers will no longer be a factor and we can’t allow that to happen. I think it is a reaction to the instituting of a national gas company. That company should be up and running as I understand it from the investors within another six months or so. So we have a six month war that is being wage and the government will do all it can to ensure that we can have some kind of sustainable to how we distribute LPG in the country.”
