The government of the United Kingdom has appointed a new high commissioner to Belize. Philip Priestly will take up his appointment in July, replacing the current high commissioner, Tim David. The fifty-four year old Priestly has served in a number of diplomatic posts in Europe, Africa and Asia, including a stint as his country’s Ambassador to the West African nation of Gabon. Since 1996 he has headed the North American Department in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Tim David will be taking an unspecified diplomatic appointment upon his departure from Belize.
