Anthony Crawford is Guilty of Shooting Shanaya Whylie

Anthony Crawford

Back in November of 2016, a young girl shot on Racoon Street Extension, Belize City. Police soon picked up Anthony Crawford and charged him with “use of deadly means of harm with intent to cause grievous harm.” At the time of the incident, the girl was only thirteen years old; fortunately, the bullet grazed her on the cheek and she was able to survive the shooting which occurred when she was at her neighbour’s yard.   Today, a jury of five females and three males unanimously returned a guilty verdict after deliberating for three and a half hours. The day following the shooting, police charged Crawford after Shanaya Whylie was able to identify him as the shooter. The case was adjourned to November twenty-ninth, when Justice Colin Williams is expected to hear mitigation pleas.
