Belize City Fisherman Charged for the Murder of “Baney” Lennan

This morning in the courtroom of Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer, an eighteen-year-old fisherman of Belize City was arraigned for the murder of fireman Jiovanni Lennan.  Appearing before the lower court judge unrepresented, Denver Bevans, who alleges that the arresting officers fractured his mandible, was read two charges. He has been charged for the shooting death of the well-known fire-fighter which occurred in Belize City last Thursday. Additionally, he was charged for assaulting police officer Briceño Chub.

“Reference the murder of Jiovanni Lennan, we have since arrested and charged Denver Bevans, eighteen-years-old, for the crime of murder.  He was also additionally charged for the crime of aggravated assault against a police officer.  This is after an investigation was done and several interviews and statements were recorded.”

Bevans has been remanded at the Belize Central Prison until January seventh, 2020.
