Also in the crime blotter, a teenager was shot early on Sunday morning in Dangriga. Police say that nineteen-year-old Alvin Lopez was walking in the Lakeland area when another man took out a gun and shot him. The incident happened sometime after midnight, just before twelve-thirty in the morning. One man has been detained for questioning. Here’s more from the police.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Dangriga Police were called to the Southern Regional Hospital where they observed nineteen-year-old Alvin Lopez with apparent gunshot injuries to his left instep. He reported that while walking home he was approached by a male person where there was a confrontation and as a result he was fired upon by that male person, receiving that injury. Police have since conducted an investigation and one person is in custody pending this investigation.”

“Sir, do you if those two men have some sort of beef or if there is an issue between the two?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“We know that they are familiar with each other. That is what the investigation has shown so far but we don’t know of any dispute between them prior to the incident.”
