Mark King and U.D.P. – What’s His Future with the Party?
Former Lake I U.D.P area representative Mark King on Thursday let loose questioning the quality of candidates running for high posts in the in the U.D.P. King was highly critical and says that the party has to make some changes to its recruitment process. King himself had offered to run for party chairman but his application was rejected. So, we asked him about his status with the party. Here’s what he had to say about the rejection of his application and where he stands with the U.D.P.
Mark King, Member of the U.D.P.
“I am always a member of the U.D.P. They have classed it that I am not a good standing member. I have not been given any specific reason for that. I am in consultation with my attorney right now on the way forward in regards to the policy of the U.D.P. towards their candidate manual and in regards to my rights under the constitution of Belize to be afforded my rights. Meaning that the party just can’t cast me out and you do it for nothing or you do it for personal reasons; that is absolutely no reason. So, I take my fights very slowly at a time. As far as I am concerned, the U.D.P. is bigger than two or three people. I am good with my party colleagues and friends all the time. I keep on saying that I am not the one fighting my party. They are the ones telling me that I can’t run and I have to sort that out with my attorney and see what direction I go.”
