Mark King Gives his Take on U.D.P. Leadership Race

There is more on the leadership race of the U.D.P., when we caught up with Mark King today in Belmopan, we asked him about his thoughts on the leadership race.  According to King, he is neither here nor there when it comes to the two candidates and he would support whoever wins but he believes that that person will have a lot of work to do.  King says that while he has seen a lot of power moves made for one candidate, he believes it is too early to tell who will win.

Mark King, Member of the U.D.P.

“I have known John Saldivar to be a strategist. I have known him to be an economist. I have known him to be a lot of things. But one thing he is is that he is a good leader and a good planner. But also, you know, I hold nothing against Mr. Faber. He was the one who tried to cast me out of the party and I told him he would need to go to a court to not call me a U.D.P. anymore. But at the end of the day, Mr. Faber has also worked as the chairman of the party and has a long role in the party and a long time. Whichever one wins, definitely has a big job in front of them. The way I see it right now, personally, politics change over-night and it is a long time before that convention in the eyes of politics whereby they have a good amount of months and so anything can happen. Whoever is in the lead now can lose later if they don’t keep the lead.”

Andrea Polanco

“I know you had offered yourself for one of the positions within the party, I believe a comment made by Mr. Faber is that it is a joke that you’ve submitted your name. How do you respond that?”

Mark King

“I would respond by saying that Mr. Faber himself is a joke, because that’s it, there is no way to explain it.”
