Candice Crowfoots CitCo

Candice Miller

Late this evening, bailiffs rolled into City Hall’s compound on the George Price Highway where the council’s heavy equipment are kept to crowfoot its assets. Candice Miller reportedly filed an Execution of Judgment only fourteen days after Supreme Court Justice Courtenay Abel ruled in her favour in her lawsuit against the Belize City Council.  The former City Administration sued the council for wrongful termination and was awarded some three hundred and seventy-eight thousand dollars in damages. Last week, Mayor Bernard Wagner told News Five that the council unanimously voted to appeal Abel’s ruling which was handed down on October fourth, more than a month ago. Appeals are to be filed twenty-one business days from the day of the perfecting of the judgment. The council today fired off a press release entitled “Candice Miller Crow-foots the City’s Assets.”  CitCo is alleging that Miller is selling them to use the proceeds as judgment payment. The council also says that Miller’s decision is discourteous and detrimental to the public. The council is working with its legal advisors to file a stay of execution forthwith. Miller was terminated from City Hall when there was a change at City Hall and Mayor Wagner and his team took over. The mayor countersued on the basis that she was negligent on her duties, but the judge found otherwise.
