Carlos Cirilo Chayash

Tonight a Belizean, forty-year-old Carlos Cirilo Chayash is recovering in a hospital in Felipe Carrillo Puerto, in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico after being stabbed on Sunday morning. Mexican media report that Chayash, a resident of Orange Walk Town was ambushed by robbers and left on a streeta. He sustained a gash to his neck and Red Cross personnel reportedly found a knife still stuck in his chest. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. News Five contacted the family but they stated they preferred not to comment on the matter. They did confirm though that Chayash is in stable condition. News of the incident shocked many in Orange Walk Town where Chayash is well known. We learned he was especially popular as an employee at a local grocery store in that town. He worked there for over ten years, but had resigned only about two weeks ago. We understand he left to Mexico seeking new opportunities. It is still unclear what happened to Chayash, but as he recovers, many of his friends are wishing him a speedy recovery. One of them, who also worked with him, says Chayash is known for his kind and friendly demeanor.

Voice of: Former Co-worker/Friend

“I recently have like a year and a half working with him and knowing him and Carlos was a nice person. He was very outgoing and was a very nice person. He was a people person. He had good PR with customers. he was very nice and it hurt us to hear what happened to him yesterday. It really, we really were shocked, we as a staff and customers as well, coming in every minute, whole day asking what happened and this and that. It’s really sad to hear what happened to him. When we finally heard that no, he wasn’t dead and he is in the hospital, hospitalized and that he is stable, then we got like…”

I just hope that he come along and get a speedy recovery and we have him back her at home again.
