The Misconception about Radiology

Barnabe Carrillo

Doctor Barnabe Carrillo also spoke on the misconceptions about radiology and the effects that it can have on patients.

Dr. Barnabe Carrillo, Head Radiologist, K.H.M.H.

“It’s real that some of the imaging techniques that we use involve radiation and then it can have a negative effect on the body if it is not used properly. But we are trained here to use it in a proper way. So if they come here, they have to feel confident that we know what we are doing and we are using it for their benefit and not to harm them. It involves several persons; it consists of many healthcare professionals. You have the radiologist that is a doctor that is trained in interpreting images. You have the radiology tech who actually trains in using the equipment, positioning patients and taking the images. Then you also have nurses that deal with the administration of medicine and care after certain procedures. Then you have the biomedical engineers that are in charge of maintaining the equipment. They have the physicist and then auxiliary staff that work along with us.”
