Have You Seen Jaswant Brooks?

Jaswant Brooks

The Belize Coastguard and police searched the area of Burton Creek on the George Price Highway looking for eighteen-year-old Jaswant Brooks. Brooks, who is now missing for more than forty-eight hours,   went to purchase items and did not return home. The Belize City man was last seen in the Lake Independence area sometime around eleven that morning. His family describes him as low-keyed and hoping he will be safely located. Today police shared what they know about Brooks’ disappearance.

Supt. Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Eastern Division

“Mr. Kent Brooks visited the Precinct Two police station and reported that his son Jahswart Brooks, eighteen years old, was last seen on Monday when he left from his residence to purchase some items within the vicinity. So far Mr. Brooks cannot be located. Police have conducted several searches in the George Price Highway but up to now he has not been located. We are working with the family members and other groups to try and locate the male person.”

“Does the family consider it extremely unusual that he went missing that day, sir?”

Supt. Alejandro Cowo

“Yes. It is something that the family is saying that he is a person who keeps to himself; he doesn’t mingle with anybody and he doesn’t do this kind of thing. He has never been out for so many days and that is why they are concerned and we are assisting with the many searches in the different areas.”

Hipolito Novelo

“Has the family shared of any incident that may have happened before his disappearance?”

Supt. Alejandro Cowo

“No. We have good communication with them and any little information we get from them we are following it up.”

Reporter

“Is it believed that the disappearance of Mr. Brooks is connected with any murders that may have happened in the Belize District?”

Supt. Alejandro Cowo

“That is what we are hearing from different sources but we are following other leads likewise.”

Anyone with information regarding Brooks’ whereabouts is asked to contact 655-7752 or 629-7970.
