Coast Guard Officers Search for Missing Man

A search for the missing Belize City youth proved fruitless this morning. C.I.B. requested the assistance of the Belize Coast Guard to conduct a search at Burdon Canal along the Philip Goldson Highway. Operations Officer, Lieutenant Roque Canul told News Five that officers found new clue of Jaswant Brooks.

On the Phone: Lieutenant Roque Canul, Operations Officer, Belize Coast Guard

“And the area that was searched was from the six mile bridge heading towards the New River. However, after two hours of searching along the river, we did not see any signs of this person. We have one unit, one boat conducting a search along the river. In the river the type of search is limited so what we are doing is just searching along the banks of the canal. We don’t have any divers. The reason why is because so far it is uncertain where this person is or where he was last seen. We don’t have this information so we are just acting on information that we are receiving. So this morning CIB informed us that they wanted us to assist in the search in that area. We don’t have a specific area where we it is required for us to search and for us to say then that we need to send divers.”

The search continues on Friday. Anyone with information regarding Brooks’ whereabouts is asked to contact 655-7752 or 629-7970.
