Eric Tillett Survives Wild Attempt on His Life

Eric Tillett

Turning to crime, Belize City Resident Eric Tillett was on his way home on Lavender Street when he came under fire attack. A volley of bullets were unleashed and as many as five hit Tillett on various parts of his body. Tillett managed to regain his balance and strength and fled, jumping the fence and into the safety of his yard. The unknown gunman also fled the area. Tillett’s family confirms he has undergone surgery at the K.H.M.H.  Here is News Five’s Isani Cayetano with a report.

Who came for Eric Tillett last evening and why?  It’s a question that perhaps only he can answer upon his release from the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.  On Monday, sometime after six p.m., Tillett was walking home on Lavender Street when someone took aim at him and unleashed as many as fourteen shots in his direction.  Five of those rounds found their mark on various parts of his body.

“What are the doctors saying, is he able to talk?  Is he conscious?”

Voice of: Sister of Shooting Victim

“He’s talking to everybody, but he’s fighting too because he already gone through surgery.  He is okay, he’s talking to everybody and everything is okay.”

From the scene of the shooting, investigators were able to recover ten spent shells.  News Five understands that twenty-seven-year-old Tillett had just left home on Monday evening to purchase a small quantity of marijuana when he was accosted. Reporting for News Five, I am Isani Cayetano.
