Murderer’s Appeal Dismissed
Convicted killer, Hernan Manzanero appeared before the Justices this morning. Manzanero, who was represented by attorney Leeroy Banner, appealed his murder conviction and twenty-five-year sentence but the Justices dismissed Manzanero’s appeal, reaffirming his conviction and sentencing. Manzanero returns to the Belize Central Prison where he will continue to serve twenty-five years for the 2011 murder of Domiciano Quixchan. The forty-five-year-old taxi driver was found dead off a feeder road in San Antonio Village, Cayo. He had been stabbed to the face and throat. Manzanero first told police that Quixchan was on the Bullet Tree Road transporting him and his common-law wife, and three-week old baby on a chartered trip. Before his story came crumbling down, Manzanero also told investigators that two unmasked men boarded the taxi, and demanded money, and later killed the cabbie. Manzanero sustained injuries and after an intensive questioning session, police found that Manzanero was the killer.
