Tax Administration Reform Expected to Impact Economic Growth

The loan will be disbursed over a period of five years and is expected to have a positive impact on economic growth and development. Country Representative for the Inter-Development Bank Doctor Cassandra T. Rogers says the project helps to achieve the goals of the fiscal consolidation programme.

“The bank if very pleased to have approved this operation. It is fourteen million dollars to strengthen tax administration in Belize which of course we expect will contribute to the Government of Belize’s efforts to achieve the objectives of this fiscal consolidation programme. As you know this particular operations is aligned with the trade and tax strategic objective of our current strategy with Belize and the objective of that tax and trade policy is to increase export led growth specifically by focusing on increasing the efficiency and simplicity of the tax system. So we are very pleased that this operation will modernize tax administration in Belize and increase tax revenue which we consider, and you are sure you will too, a win-win situation for all.”
