LAVIE – A Unique Women’s Boutique in Downtown Plaza

On Monday at the Downtown Plaza in Belize City, a new boutique will open its doors exclusively to Belizean women. LAVIE is the brainchild of Belizean American Kameel Raees, who has been in the fashion industry for some time and has now relocated to Belie to make her mark. Having worked with a wide range of brands, Raees says that she is exposing women to these unique designs inside her one-of-a-kind store. The clothing, accessories and shoes that will be available at the boutique, according to the designer and owner, are different from those that you can find at other stores. Customers will be able to find from high end brands to the more affordable designs. News Five got a sneak peak today, ahead of the launch on Monday.

“I am a fashion designer…I actually went to school in New York City and I worked in the industry in New York City for quite a few well known companies and I got laid off. I got laid off and it was nothing against the company, but they were just having budget cuts. And I didn’t like the feeling that I felt at that moment. And I knew that it was kinda setting me up for something bigger and it has always been my dream to come back to Belize and just open something really special. And I wanted to bring the girls of Belize fashion; I just wanted to bring the girls spark. I just wanted to bring access to the girls. They have access to what basketball wives are wearing and media celebrities are wearing, but it is not always accessible in Belize. So I just wanted to bring that here and just give the girls all the fashion that they need. We offer sizes from extra small to double XL and as we grow, we are going to bring in more and more sizes to just offer to a wide selection of women. The boutique will offer highs and lows. My background, I’ve worked for high end companies as well as lower end, affordable companies. With that knowledge, this is how I bought into the boutique; it is completely affordable. Of course we have some higher end pieces, but it’s something for everyone.”
