Allan Pitts

Twenty-seven-year-old Allan Pitts, a support technician of Burrell Boom Village, was injured shortly after midnight on Tuesday when the vehicle he was traveling in came under gunfire.  It is reported that sometime around two o’clock this morning, Belize City police visited the Belize Healthcare Partners where they observed Pitts suffering from a gunshot wound to the left shoulder.  He told investigators that he was along with a group of friends in a Kia Sorento SUV driving on Baghdad Street and when they turned right, into Alexandria Street, someone opened fire on them.  Shortly thereafter, Pitts realized that he had been injured.  This morning, ACP Joseph Myvett gave details on the incident.

“Sometime shortly after one a.m. this morning, Belize City police were alerted of a shooting incident on Baghdad Street in Belize City whereupon arrival they canvassed the area and were told that the victim had already been taken to the Belize Healthcare partners whereupon moving to the Belize Healthcare Partners they observed one Allan Pitts, twenty-seven-year-old of a Burrell Boom Village address with an apparent gunshot injury to his left shoulder.  What was reported to the police was that Pitts was along with two other persons traveling in a Kia Sorento vehicle coming from the direction of the Swing Bridge and was just turning into Alexandria Street when he heard several bangs that sounded like gunshots and realized that he was shot.  As a result, he was then immediately transported to the Healthcare Partners.  Police officers have been on the scene since last night.  We were back on the scene this morning trying to establish whether or not we could have determined who was responsible for the shooting, but so far we have still not yet been able to determine who was responsible.”
