Samuel Trapp Busted for Attempted Robbery

Joseph Myvett

A travel agency in Belize City was the scene of a brazen robbery attempt.  Police say that twenty-four-year-old Samuel Trapp entered Matus Travel & Tour Services on Barrack Road on the evening of October fifteenth and attempted to hold up the business after inquiring about tickets to Caye Caulker by water taxi.  When employees of the company told Trapp that they do not provide such services, he produced a firearm.  A scuffle between Trapp and the manager ensued, foiling the robbery attempt.  Despite escaping from the establishment, he was later picked up by police in connection with the incident.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Shortly after five p.m., police were called to Matus Travel on Barrack Road whereupon arrival they spoke to the manager who reported to them that shortly before five p.m. his business place was entered into by a brown complexioned male person who was inquiring about boat tickets to travel to Caye Caulker when he was told that the agency does not deal with that.  He then pulled out what appears to be a firearm and a struggle ensued between himself and the manager.  During that process an employee who was present came to the front of the building and in that process the would-be robber then made good his escape by leaving the establishment.  Diligent police investigation has led to the arrest of one Samuel Trapp, twenty-four-year-old of a Ladyville address with the crime of attempted robbery.”
