Robbery in the North; No Suspects Yet!

Police say they haven’t yet identified the men who robbed the Zitro Western Union outlet in Orange Walk Town on the Belize-Corozal Road on Wednesday. While cops say that they are following several leads, they are still looking for the get-away vehicle and the two criminals. Sometime close to two in the afternoon, two robbers are captured on camera as they entered the business.  Thereafter they stole an undisclosed amount of cash and made good their escape in the red vehicle.  Here’s what police shared with the media today about that robbery.

Hilberto Romero

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero, Deputy Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Police visited the business establishment where a report was received that two male persons entered the establishment with firearms, they held up the security guard and proceeded to rob the cashier of an undisclosed amount of cash. Both persons then made good their escape in an SUV vehicle which left from the area.”

Andrea Polanco

“Sir, do we know anything about these two persons; were they doing surveillance days before? What do we know about them?”

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero

“We do not know at this time. Investigation is ongoing. They came and rob the business and fled in a vehicle. We are looking for two persons and trying to recover the vehicle.”

Andrea Polanco

“Nothing to suggest collusion with someone from inside the business?”

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero

“Not at this time.”
