Thieves Burgle Buttonwood Bay Nazarene Primary

Thieves broke into Buttonwood Bay Nazarene Primary School over the weekend and made off with seven thousand dollars in cash and other items from the principal’s office.  According to Vice Principal Avril Arthurs, someone entered the second floor building between Saturday night and Sunday morning by prying open the burglar bar door.  Once inside, the thief stole several laptops, a food processor and monies that were to have been deposited on Friday.  According to the assistant administrator, it is the first time that the school has been broken into.

“One of the teachers came by to pick up a book, when she came by to pick up a book she noticed that the office was open on Monday.  So she went to the office and when she went to the office she noticed that we were not there but the office was in a mess and that’s when she realized that a burglary had taken place.  At that point she had called the police and after she had called the police she was trying to contact either the principal or myself.  She got in touch with me first and so I quickly came to the school after contacting our general manager.  Upon arrival that’s when I was able to identify the items that were stolen which include two laptops, the principal’s laptop and an EMIS laptop that was given to us by the Ministry of Education.  Along with that was also our projector and we had cash that we were supposed to deposit on Friday but we ran out of time.  So you’re looking at about fifteen hundred dollars worth in cash.  From the kitchen they took a tabletop stove as well as a food processor, some plates and cups and cash that they found in the kitchen as well. Other areas of the office were not affected at all, it was mostly the principal’s desk, my desk and the areas that we would store whatever finances.”

“It’s the first that I am aware of since the opening of this school.”
