A Wanted Poster is Issued for a Guatemalan National for a Murder in Succotz

The Belize Police Department has issued a wanted poster for Guatemalan national Cesar Agusto Lopez Mendoza. Mendoza is wanted for the murder of fifty-six-year-old Juan De Cruz Carrias, whose mutilated body was discovered in a wooden house in Succotz Village on Friday morning. It is not known what motivated the vicious chopping death of Carrias, but the Santa Familia resident was last seen alive in the company of Mendoza and another man. Although police did not share the name of the second person, Senior Superintendent Hilberto Romero says that they are looking for both suspects. It is believed that Mendoza may have absconded to neighbouring Guatemala.

“We have two suspects we are seeking for this murder and they have not been found.”

Reporter

“Okay, now sir, we know that he lived in Santa Familia [Village]. Is it known what he was doing in Succotz?”

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero

“Well he was there with two other male persons and these are the persons that we are seeking at this time.”

Reporter

“Now we have seen a wanted poster for one Cesar Agusto Lopez Mendoza. Is it a concern that he is someone who may have absconded?”

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero

“Searches are being done for them, but they have not been found. Information is that they have fled from that village.”

Reporter

“Well we know that Mendoza is a Guatemalan and we know Succotz is just a few miles from the Melchor border and countless illegal crossings. Is it a suspicion that he may be across the border?”

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero

“Yes there is a possibility that he made it across as he has not been found or seen in that area.”

Reporter

“Sir now was there any motive? Some have alluded that it is of a personal nature.”

Sr. Supt. Hilberto Romero

“The detectives are recording statements, doing interviews and it will be determined thereafter what transpired; how the incident led to him being chopped to death.”
