G.O.B. Willing to Help P.S.U. Obtain New Land for New HQ

The Public Service Union has been ordered to vacate its Belmopan Hilltop headquarters by October thirty first. The order is by Simplex Designs Limited which has hired Attorney Estevan Perrera. A recent letter sent to P.S.U. President Gerald Henry says that if the P.S.U. fails to vacate the premises by the allotted time, it will be evicted. The property was sold to the Corozal company in November 2018 by the Belmopan City Council and the P.S.U. has sicne been unable to get back its headquarters.  The P.S.U. says that while the sale was legal, it will not move until it cashes in on equitable interests it has in the property. The PM had previously said he would assist but the Belmopan City Council gave the union the run around. Now, when the time comes for relocation, Prime Minister Dean Barrow says that the government will be more than willing to assist.

“In terms of trying to find another land for the P.S.U., government would be more than inclined to try to and help. I think that is all I can say. With respect to the legal wranglings the legal contentiousness, I better leave that alone.”

“Sir is it regrettable to you that an organization which seeks to protect th rights of public officers its home is in a status of flux?”

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“Of course it is, but as to whose fault that is I am not going to comment.”
