Immigration Director Retires

Diana Locke

Director of the Immigration Diana Locke will be leaving her desk at the immigration department as she nears the age of retirement. Locke assumed the post in early May of 2016. Before then she was at the Foreign Ministry where she served for twenty-four years as Chief of Protocol as well as Director of Consular matters. Upon taking up her position, Locke was expected to restore integrity to the Immigration department that had been rocked by scandals under former Minister of State Elvin Penner. So, who will replace her? Today, Minister of Immigration Godwin Hulse said no decision has been made so far.

“Well, she comes to the age of retirement, like everybody else, and so she goes on pre-retirement leave and then when the date is up, we see what happens after that. I think there are people within the ranks who can fill the spot easily so we will see how that works.”

“With the same level of integrity?”

Godwin Hulse

“Of course. A lot of people in that department have good integrity. It is a pity that the few bad eggs have tainted the bag, but there are a lot of people who have worked hard. I can pop off a name for example like Miss Debra Baptist, who in fact…I think you all remember the United States gave her a citation up in Washington sometime last year, year before. Excellent woman.”
