YWCA and Haven House receive considerable donation from Digi

Two organizations got a boost of ten thousand dollars each to advance the range of programmes they offer to the public. The Young Women’s Christian Association will be using the funds in the upgrade of its kitchen while Haven House will spend the contribution to bolster their work with women and children. The money was raised at a race organized by Digi. Here is Dalila Ical with that story.

Today, Digi handed a ten thousand dollar cheque each to the Young Women’s Christian Association and Haven House. The funds were raised back in August when over two hundred riders took part in the first ever Digi Ride.

On August twenty-fourth, riders peddled from northern Belize into the Old Capital and on the following day, they rode from Cayo. Chief Financial Officer at Digi, Ivan Tesucum says it was a success.

“It is with much gratitude that I stand here today to accept this donation from Digi for our kitchen, because this money is going to be used to renovate our Kitchen. The YWCA kitchen actually has a long story and it has touched the lives of many women and youth in our country, no matter the socioeconomic backgrounds. Many people can tell you they have come to the YWCA to learn to cook, to bake, to do catering and so the monies really will have a ripple and multiply effect for us. Our kitchen is being renovated. It will continue to help us to empower women from all socio economic backgrounds. We are really happy and grateful for this donation.”
