Is Edmond Castro Team Faber or Team Saldivar?

Edmond Castro

Deputy Prime Minister and aspiring U.D.P. Leader Patrick Faber officially launched his bid to lead the United Democratic Party weeks ago. Faber’s convention was held at the Belize City Civic where he said that about two thousand persons showed up, including representatives of twenty-five constituencies. Present, although briefly, for Faber’s convention was Belize Rural North Area Representative Edmond Castro. According to Castro, while he made a brief appearance, he has not decided whom he will support for the leadership position which Belmopan’s John Saldivar is also contesting.

“Was there a coup against the honorable Patrick Faber in terms of Cabinet colleagues not showing up at his campaign launch?”

Edmond Castro, UDP Minister

“No, I don’t know. We never had a coup in Belize yet. First time I am hearing of a coup. I hope if there is a coup I am the leader but I don’t know of any coup. Never happened yet in this country.”

“You were not there? He said that twenty five we represented.”

Edmond Castro

“You are not quite right. I had a lot of things to do that weekend. I conveyed this to Honorable Faber. I did show up but did not stay long.  I had an event that they were calling me for in Biscayne for the back to school program. Early that day I had bicycle race. I had Bermudian Landing, giving out school bags. I was in Double Head Cabbage giving out school bags. So my day was very compact but I still took time to make sure that everyone is happy.”

Reporter

“Did your showing up briefly signify that you are supporting….”

Edmond Castro

“No, no. You are going too far. They are both my bredrins. I support both of them. I must give my delegates the opportunity to vote whoever they believe see fit to run the country or party. But they are both good men.”
