Faber or Saldivar? Omar Figueroa Undecided

Omar Figueroa

Five months from today, on February ninth, 2020, Patrick Faber and John Saldivar will go head to head for the leadership of the ruling United Democratic Party. The U.D.P.’s National Leadership Convention will take place at the Belize Civic Center where Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Party Leader Patrick Faber recently launched his leadership campaign. Five hundred and sixty party delegates will decide who will lead the U.D.P. into the 2020 general elections. Four hundred and ninety-six delegates are chosen from all thirty-one constituencies. Each constituency gets sixteen votes and Cayo North Area Representative Omar Figueroa says they have yet to decide. Figueroa is from the West, Saldivar’s stomping ground, but when asked if he has decided, Figueroa told News Five that the topic has not been discussed.

“We haven’t even sat down with our delegates to discuss that so, no we haven’t decided.”

Hipolito Novelo

“You haven’t made up your mind?”

Omar Figueroa

“We haven’t made any decisions as yet.”
