Hurricane Dorian’s Devastation on The Bahamas

As the dust begins to settle, waters start receding, and the sky begins to clear, the level of devastation that Hurricane Dorian brought to The Bahamas is becoming clear. Hurricane Dorian pulverized The Bahamans for two days, lashing the islands of Grand Bahama and Abaco with catastrophic winds and relentless rain. It was the strongest storm ever to make landfall in the country as a category five Hurricane which has taken at least thirty lives. The death toll includes an 8-year-old boy and authorities say that number will almost surely rise. Dorian is now a Category 2 hurricane, lashing the south-eastern coastline of the United States. As photos and videos vividly illustrate, Dorian scalped entire neighborhoods and caused tens of millions of dollars in infrastructure destruction. The damage is immense and will require a massive recovery and relief effort. The full magnitude of the crisis in the islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama was still coming into focus, with rescue crews yet to reach some of the hardest-hit areas.
