Police are still looking for twenty-three-year-old Henry Gideon, the man accused of attacking and stabbing his own grandmother on Wednesday night. Gideon allegedly pounced on his grandmother, sixty-five-year-old Fernanda Garcia while she rested in a hammock inside her small home in Trinidad Village, Orange Walk District. The elderly woman, who has been blind for more than twenty years, told News Five that she felt someone suddenly jump on her, cover her mouth and strangle her. She felt some blows and remembers losing consciousness. She woke up on the ground to find her clothes torn and soaked in blood. She also soon realized she was missing money she had on her. She called on her husband who was asleep in their room and neighbours soon came to her aid. She was taken to the hospital and treated for two stab wounds and released hours later. Several villagers turned out to aid the elderly couple. Some attempted to look for their grandson but up to today, he remains on the run.

“Yes he is still at large. We ask the public if they see him to please contact us. Me, like the Chairlady who is charge of the village and the police. We want justice for Mrs. Fernanda because all of us in this village we love her a lot and she is a respected woman for us.”

According to reports, neighbours found a piece of broken mirror on the ground where Garcia had collapsed. It was taken into evidence by police as it is suspected to be the weapon Gideon used to stab his grandmother.
