2 Hispanic Men Sought for Murder of Kevin Hyde

Kevin Hyde

The police today provided updates on a number of recent crimes.  Police say that they are looking for two Hispanic men who were in the area of the bus shed in Hattieville, Belize District, who they believe pulled the trigger that ended the life of forty-seven-year-old security guard, Kevin Hyde. Hyde was waiting for a bus to head down to Belize City for work at City Hall on Monday afternoon around four o’clock  when he was ambushed by his killer or killers.  The family maintains that the murder is a case of mistaken identity and is incensed by the fact that the killing occurred within yards of the Hattieville Police Station.

“What the police know so far is that shortly before four p.m. while the deceased was waiting for bus, he was approached by two Hispanic male persons who fired shots towards him causing the aforementioned injuries; thereafter making good their escape in the bushes across the highway. In regards to that, police are on the ground conducting an investigation and following several leads and at the same point seeking two Hispanic males who were in the area.”

“Sir the family has asserted strongly that they believe that he was killed as a consequence of a mistaken identity. Have you all established why he was targeted?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“At this point in time, we have still not been able to establish a motive; however, we are looking at several leads.”

“The family also raised this concern that the bus stop where this occurred is right within eye-seeing distance of the Hattieville Police Station. And the concern was what happened with police rapid response. Can you share with us what level of response was involved with that shooting after it happened?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“What we know is that upon the shots being fired, the police responded shortly thereafter and I must also mention that if you are familiar with the terrain, you would see that there is a wooden building, which I believe houses a restaurant, between the view of those in the police station and those who were at the bus stop.”
