A formal report is yet to be filed with the Belize Police Department, following an incident on July twenty-sixth in which a vehicle driven by Brandon Mejia was reportedly shot at on Jasmine Street.  According to Mejia, while driving along that carriageway in Lake Independence he came under gunfire from police in the area.  The shot that was fired reportedly damaged the vehicle’s windshield.  Notwithstanding the incident, Mejia is yet to go in and make a complaint against the officer or officers who allegedly opened fire on him.

“I just spoke to personnel from the Professional Standards Branch and they informed me that they are aware of the situation, however, Mr. Mejia has not made an official report to them, but they have knowledge of it though.”

“Are you familiar with the case?”

Supt. Alejandro Cowo

“No, I don’t really have much information in regards to that.”
