Police Comment on Murder of Elderly Musician

Joseph Myvett

So, what are police saying about this murder? They say that they don’t know what the motive is as yet. The investigation is in its early stages and they are still interviewing neighbours and friends. At this time police are looking for one person they believe that can assist them with this investigation. Here’s more from ACP Joseph Myvett.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Upon the police’s arrival, they met the son of Mr. Vasquez there and the structure appeared to be locked and secured from the back and front door had a pad lock which was locked. As a result, the door was forced open and upon entering the building, the lifeless body of Mr. Manuel Vasquez was found in a decomposed state with apparent chop wounds to the upper body. The scene was processed where the body was removed and a post-mortem was later conducted yesterday. So, far we know that he was last seen alive on Monday.”

“Sir, given that you all had to force your way in, is there suspicion that the victim knew his killer and that that person was the one who locked up and did all this elaborate thing?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“At this point in time, I am not going to say that, other than to say that we are following several leads and we are looking for one person whom we believe can assist in the investigation.   Yes, indeed his wallet was found on him and it had in a certain amount of money.”

“So, have you established the motive?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“No. So far we haven’t been able to establish a motive.”

“Have investigators been able to determine if the deceased if the deceased had any prior problems with anyone who might want to harm him?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“At this point in time, no. However, we are still interviewing family members and other friends whom we believe may be able to share some information that can assist us in the investigation.”
