Young Footballers Conclude 11th Annual Smart Star Football Camp

Children are taking advantage of summer programmes they find appealing and capture their interests. The annual summer camp organized by SMART attracts aficionados of football. The event kicked off this morning here in Belize City; it is strong on competition and discipline and most importantly, keeps the youth away from the streets, engaging them in a sport they enjoy. News Five’s Hipolito Novelo reports.

For the past two weeks children ages, four to fourteen have been taking advantage of the eleventh annual Smart Star Football Camp. The football camp culminated today with the children receiving certificates and football equipment. “We know that it is the summer vacation and we know that a lot of these children don’t have a lot to do during the summer. Instead of having them at home, watching TV or on their games and phones, this is an opportunity for them to come out and expend some energy. They get to make new friends. They get exposed to football techniques. So some of them who have an aptitude for football t is a great way to develop further skills. So when they leave here they feel proud. So we believe that we are doing something for the development of sport and especially for the development of our youths.”
