Allyson Major Jr. is Remembered by Friends and Family

Allyson Major Jr.

Allyson Major was a very close friend of Caribbean Shores Area Representative Kareem Musa and a lifelong friend of former COLA President Giovanni Brackett.  Like Major’s immediate family, both men are also reeling from his senseless death.  This afternoon, they shared fond memories of the teacher, from personal accounts of having spent time with him.

“I was introduced to Allyson by my good friend Giovanni about four or five years ago, Giovanni, when I wanted to start up a basketball tournament, the Kings of the Park, Allyson was one of the founding members that helped me organize the first successful Kings of the Park.  I met Allyson at least once a week, he would come by my office and we would hang out at the Buttonwood Bay Park.  He was a family man and he looked after his children, they were his number one priority.  He wanted his children to go into different classes over the summer, instruments, karate, you name it.  So he was a good, loving father and he was a teacher, a respected teacher in our community.  So all the surrounding circumstances is very sad what has transpired today.”

“I was more the vocal, but Allyson was athletic.  He was always the one that was well popular.  He was well-liked and I was well-known, but he was well-liked and he had tremendous amount of friends.  I’ll never forget one of the times in high school, I asked him one question and then we had an exchange and then he said, “Brackett, you know, in life if you worry about what people say you will never have happiness and so he taught me that because I was more self-conscious and he was the one who didn’t really worry much what people said.  I’ve learned a lot, we’ve exchanged a lot.”
