An Elderly American National is Knocked Down and Killed in Placencia

Robert McNealy, a resident of Placencia, was knocked down and killed on Friday night as he was riding his bicycle along the highway.  The body of the elderly American national was discovered a distance away from the bicycle and not far away was the driver of the pickup truck that fatally struck him.  According to police, the driver of the vehicle had a high alcohol content in his blood at the time of the accident.

“On Friday sometime around 6:30 p.m., Placencia police were called to an area between mile twenty-two and twenty-three on the Placencia Road whereupon arrival they observed a clear complexion male person lying on the side of the road motionless and a few feet away from him was a damaged yellow bicycle on the same side that he was and a couple yards farther the police observed a white pickup with two occupants outside of the vehicle.  What the police learned is that the deceased whose name was learned to be Robert McNealy, seventy-one-year-old retired American, who lives in that area was on his way home when he was hit from behind by this vehicle.  The driver has since been detained, his name was learned to be Luis Flores, twenty-one-years-old of a Palmar Village address in the Orange Walk District.  He has since been arrested and charged for the crimes of manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving motor vehicle with alcohol concentration above the prescribed limit.”
