U.S. Embassy Weighs in on F.T.C.’s Sanctuary Bay Allegations

The United States Embassy in Belize today issued a one-page press release relating to the Sanctuary Belize real estate fraud. It addresses the long list of serious allegations filed by the Federal Trade Commission in a U.S. bankruptcy court in Florida.  The U.S. Embassy does not confirm or reject the allegations, but takes the position that the U.S. State Department had not “contributed to or approved the F.T.C.’s arguments as presented in its filing.”  It says that the F.T.C.’s position does not represent those of the U.S. government.  In fact, the U.S. Embassy goes further to say that the F.T.C.’s arguments, as presented in its filing, did not give the persons it referred to an opportunity to counter the allegations in court.
