Barrow Stays Away from Accusing the F.T.C. of Incompetence, Bad Faith

Dean Barrow

Prime Minister Dean Barrow, having learned that the F.T.C. filed such damning documents against him and his government, summoned the Chargé d’ Affaires, Keith Gilges, to make sure his complaint against the F.T.C. reaches the U.S. State Department.  While the PM has taken on many challenges, big or small, on Wednesday, Barrow told the media that he would not take on the F.T.C.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“During the discussion, it has been made clear that the F.T.C. would not take kindly to my accusing them of either of both of two things, incompetence or bad faith. I don’t believe that I have used either the word incompetent or the words bad faith in all that I have said. But I hope that notwithstanding I have been able to demonstrate how utterly and completely without merit what was said by the F.T.C. in that June tenth filing was, how much it conceivable could have damaged reputations and how absolutely outrage at what took place. As I said, I will go no further.  Don’t think that really the F.T.C. could have expected that I would do any less what I have this afternoon. Again, completely consciously stayed away of any allegations of bad faith or incompetence. But the Belize people needed for the record to be set straight and I hope that I have done so.”

“Do you think that you should call fresh elections, new elections to get a fresh mandate because you government has been embroiled in assort of controversies?”

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“Sir any government will be embroiled in controversy. You can’t run a country for three terms and not have controversy but how on earth can something like this which involves Americans defrauding Americans unfortunately it also including Atlantic International Bank Limited being listed as a defendant, how would that embroiled the government in scandal and fraud? No sir. That does not make sense.”
