Businessman Takes Squatters to Court Over Belama Phase 4 Land

Businessman, Alex Chang, through his attorney Brandon Usher of Williams Law Firm, has commenced legal action against eight families. Those eight families, Chang contends, are illegally occupying his one point six-six acres of land situated in Belama Phase Four. As we have been reporting, in January Chang served some thirty families with a notice of eviction but up to tonight majority of the families remain on the land, refusing to move until they have their day in court. Well, their day is scheduled for September as claims against the families have been filed. Usher says that he has received instructions to commence legal actions against three more families who have been squatting on the land.

“We have already taken and filed eight claims against them. Of the eight, four I have been notified have moved out already. The claim is before the courts. It is coming up in September. I am hoping that the other four that remains, up to now; I just got three more to commence a claim against, but I am hoping that the other four take heed and actually move as well.”

“What happens if they don’t? Because I know that court cases take years. Do they remain on the land?”

Brandon Usher

“Unfortunately so until the court orders that they be moved.”

Hipolito Novelo

“Yesterday I believe, they say Mr. Chang send some people to clear some land?:

Brandon Usher

“I spoke to my client and he has advised that what they were doing is basically having the surveyor go and properly demarcate the properties and unfortunately a coconut tree was in the line of survey and they had to take it down.”
