Near Fatal Shooting in Hattieville

Ozen Rhaburn

In Hattieville, a twenty-three-year-old man was shot at around nine o’clock this morning at his house located in an isolated area of the village. Police recovered as many eight expended shells at the scene outside his house. Ozen Rhaburn is said to have been ambushed by someone he knew. A witness who heard the shots saw Rhaburn as he collapsed from the shots to the chest and legs.  Fortunately, he survived and police have one person detained. News Five’s Duane Moody reports.

It is not known what triggered the gun violence this morning in a fairly remote section of Hattieville Village, but around nine o’clock, Ozen Rhaburn was shot multiple times at this house in the Farmer’s Site area.  Residents in the neighbourhood say that a person, who is no stranger, pulled out a gun and fired a barrage of bullets in his direction. Some say as many as eight struck Rhaburn.

“At about nine a.m., police visited an area located in the Hattieville Village known as Farmer’s Site where they observed a male person by the name of Ozen Rhaburn with gunshot injuries to his body. Police were able to transport him to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he is presently undergoing surgery and is in a critical, but stable condition.”

But who is Ozen Rhaburn and why would anyone want him dead is unknown at this time. Investigators had just returned from the scene prior to the police press brief and Assistant Superintendent Alejandro Cowo says that one person has been detained, pending further investigation into the attempted murder.

“What we understand is that Mister Rhaburn was inside of a residence this morning along with other persons when somebody approached them and fired shots in their direction which resulted in him receiving the injuries. I believe that so far police have detained one person who is in custody at the Hattieville station.”
