Eamon Courtenay

Eamon Courtenay has vacated his seat in the Senate. Having served as a parliamentarian in the upper house for as many as ten years as lead senator for the Opposition, Courtenay is moving on with the P.U.P. in another capacity. He has been appointed as the Opposition’s representative on the Belize-Guatemala Committee that is working along with Belize’s I.C.J. International Legal Team. According to a release issued by the P.U.P., Courtenay vacated his senatorial duties because his new appointment requires his full attention. In a letter dated June eleventh of this year, Leader of the Opposition John Briceño advised the Governor General of Courtenay’s departure from the Senate and his successor. Attorney Michel Chebat has been recommended to succeed Courtenay as the Opposition’s senator.
