Celebrating World Milk Day

World Milk Day is celebrated annually on June first, since milk was recognized as a world food by the United Nations back in 2001. It is a basic essential in our diets, but unfortunately a lot of children do not have milk as a part of their diet. This year, San Cas is partnering with the Belmopan City Council and the Ministry of Health to commemorate its seventh year of celebrating World Milk Day. Marketing Manager at San Cas and brand manager for Dutch Lady, Aisha Trapp spoke about the activities being held and the available of products.

“In our stores, we have wonderful discounts happening all month long for our Dutch Lady milks. We have other activities coming up in the other districts that the merchandisers are going to plan. Look out for those. But the fair on Thursday, we have some amazing schools coming that have feeding programmes. I have to big them up cause it takes a lot to do that. There is a school that I want to highlight from Belmopan, Saint Michael’s RC, who provides a cup of warm oats and milk every morning for their students. That really touched our hearts at San Cas and being the good corporate citizen we are, we are going to pledge to sponsor Saint Michael’s and Saint Martin’s schools with Dutch Lady milk for the rest of the year. We want this to be something not only for us, but for those children. And all those kids that come on Thursday, they are going to have a fun and educational time because we have a wonderful activity set out for them. We have our semi-skim milk, which is one point five percent fat and our skim milk that is zero point three percent fat. Those are good milk for you—it’s still nutritious with less fat. We are changing with the way we consume goods, so we do have a product for every family member. You know yo have yo sweetened condensed milk, you have your evaporated milk, yo semi and skimmed milk and our creamy powder milk. So we are going to be giving some delicious Ovaltine ideals with creamy Dutch Lady powder milk on Thursday. I can taste that right now along with our delicious Gallo cheese dip. So look out for that. And we just want to say thanks to all the schools that house feeding programmes. We do help where we can when it comes to getting milk in the schools.”
