A Watchman is Injured During an Aggravated Burglary at a Farm Outside of Belmopan

A watchman from San Ignacio is at home recovering from injuries he sustained during an aggravated burglary at his place of work just outside of Belmopan. On Tuesday morning, Juan Garcia stood watch at a farm near mile forty-four on the George Price Highway when he came under attack by four masked, armed robbers. Garcia was beaten and robbed of his money before he was tied up inside the security booth on the property around eight a.m.  The manager of the property, Marvin Vanzie, arrived about an hour later during which several shots were fired at him before the robbers escaped in a vehicle. Fortunately, he escaped unscathed.  Quick response from Belmopan police led to the interception of the getaway car in Roaring Creek. One of the robbers was detained while the other three escaped.  News Five has been informed that earlier today; a second suspect was detained in connection with the aggravated burglary while police continue to investigate.
