Brian Brown found guilty of threatening to set his mama on fire

Forty-two year old Brian Brown, who was once a leading member of the George Street gang, has been convicted of threatening to set on fire his mother, sixty-one year old retired teacher, Rose Jacobs. The incident occurred on August twenty-third, 2018 at the Lord Ridge Cemetery where Jacobs had gone for the burial of a relative.  Jacobs claimed that when Brown uttered the threatening words, he had a bottle of kerosene and a lighter in his hand. The sitting magistrate found Brown guilty of the charge and imposed a non-custodial sentence of a fine of two hundred dollars, which he was ordered to pay by June thirtieth.  In trial, Brown denied the allegation and said he never saw his mother on the day of the incident. But one of his two sons who testified told the court that they did see Jacobs on the day. With that the case fell apart for Brown. This is his first conviction.  Some years ago, he was charged with drug trafficking of weed, cocaine and a number of other items including the possession of a bullet proof vest which was found at his home in the Faber’s Road area during a search when Brown was not present. Brown walked free of all charges.
