Cyclist injured, truck driver charged

Story Picture
Four vehicles were involved in an accident that has left one man hospitalised in the K.H.M.H. The accident took place around 10:00 this morning near Nargusta Street on Central American Boulevard. According to police this dump truck, driven by twenty-four year old Arthur Emmanuel Stevens, a labourer of Lords Bank Village, crashed first into a black pickup, which then rammed the back of another truck that slammed into the fourth vehicle. Reports are that the vehicles were waiting in line for the traffic light to change when Stevens went out of control. While none of the drivers were injured, a cyclist crossing between two of the trucks at the time of the incident was knocked off his bicycle. Raul Swasey suffered a broken right ankle and has been admitted to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. It is not certain what caused Stevens to hit the first truck, but when police arrived, he had already departed from the scene. Police say that Stevens turned himself in this afternoon and was promptly charged. These charges include four counts of negligent harm, one count of negligent grievous harm, driving without due care and attention, failure to stop and render aid, failure to produce a driver’s license and driving without a valid license with respect to the class of vehicle.
